The Our Father is the perfect prayer. When the disciples asked Jesus how to pray, Jesus responded with the Our Father (Matthew 6:9-13). It is prayed at the beginning of the rosary and with every mystery.
“In the Our Father we praise God (Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name). We acknowledge the final coming of the reign of God (Your kingdom come). We submit ourselves to God’s will (Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven). We trust in God to care for our daily needs (Give us this day our daily bread). We ask God to forgive us and promise to forgive those who have hurt us as well (And forgive us our trespasses, a we forgive those who trespass against us). And finally, we ask God to protect us from Satan and any action which hurts God (And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.Amen).
