From our flavor of coffee to accepting a demanding but rewarding job, we are bombarded with decisions 24/7. Most decisions are minor. Others are life-changing and will effect us and our families from this point on.
There are 3 steps to decision-making. These steps sound simple but actually can be stressful. When making the greater decisions, writing down the steps and your various responses, and then discussing them with a friend, can be quite helpful. These steps are to:
- Figure out what you really want.
- Consider what it will take to get what you want.
- Decide if you are willing to pay the price.
There’s always a price to pay whether it be in time, money, energy, or consequences. And there will be people who present their fears and tell you what you can’t do. If you value their guidance, consider what they say. But in the end, the decisions and results are yours. Once you are willing to make the commitment, go for it.
Just don’t be afraid to change your direction along the way. New information may arise that changes everything.
